Submitting Lenses to Lens+ Payouts

Submitting your Lens to Lens+ Payouts begins in My Lenses. If you are unfamiliar with the submission flow, you can follow the steps outlined in the Submitting your Lens section.

Before enrolling a Lens in any payout program, you must first review and accept the program terms and conditions:

After you’ve reviewed and accepted the terms in My Lenses, and, if applicable, have been accepted into Lens+ Payouts, you will see an opt-in toggle for Lens+ Payouts in the monetization section. To enroll your Lens, toggle the opt-in on, and click Submit and Publish.

In order to enroll your Lens in Lens+ Payouts, it must meet the following criteria:

  • The visibility must be set to Public.
  • It must contain a valid video preview. For more information on creating a preview video, follow the Creating a Preview Video guide.
  • It may not include any music or sounds that you have not received written permission from the applicable owners of said music or sounds to use in your Lens. To Learn more about the guidelines for Music on Snapchat, click here.

Once a Lens is submitted to Lens+ Payouts, you will not be able to un-enroll it, however you can still delete it from Snapchat.

All submissions go through standard moderation to ensure compliance with our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and any other applicable guidelines or policies. Once your Lens has completed and passed the moderation review, it will be considered published, live on Snapchat, and enrolled in Lens+ Payouts. Enrollment does not guarantee payout.

Please note that it may take up to 72 hours following your Lens being published for it to appear as Exclusive on Snapchat. Exclusive Lenses are indicated by the Exclusive Lens icon border shown below:

Frequently Asked Questions

How Payouts Work

Q: What is an Exclusive Lens?
A: Exclusive Lenses are Lenses available to Lens+ and Platinum subscribers—they can include GenAI, games, video templates, tools, and more.

Q: Can I make a Lens created before being accepted into Lens+ Payouts Exclusive?
A: No, only new Lenses are eligible. Lenses may only be enrolled in Lens+ Payouts at the time of submission.

Q: How do I get access to Lens+ Payouts?
A: Lens+ payouts are currently available to approved Creators. To apply for access, click here.

Q: How exactly are my payouts calculated for Lens+?
A: Payouts are determined based on a variety of signals related to Lens+ subscriber behavior, such as engagement and how your Lens contributes to Lens+ subscriptions. These signals determine your Lens+ Score. The exact formula isn’t fully disclosed, but it’s designed to reward meaningful engagement with Lens+ subscribers.

Q: Why does my Lens have high engagement but low payout amount?
A: Not all engagement contributes to payouts—at this time payouts are only determined by engagement from Lens+ subscribers and new subscriptions to Lens+ driven from your Lenses. It’s possible for a Lens to perform well on engagement metrics like views, reach, shares, or posts while generating a lower payout amount if the engagement is not coming directly from the Lens+ subscriber audience.

Q: How often is payout calculated?
A: Payouts are calculated on a monthly basis and issued for the prior calendar month (for example, April payouts are based on March performance). We try to get these to you as soon as possible, but the timeline can take 1-2 weeks after the end of the month.

Q: Is there a minimum threshold I need to hit before receiving a payout?
A: Your Lens must reach a Lens+ score of 100 or greater in order to be eligible to be paid out. This threshold helps ensure payouts are tied to meaningful engagement.

Q: Do payouts vary by region or user location for Lens+ payouts?
A: No, all engagement from Lens+ subscribers are treated equally. However, Lens+ subscriptions are only available in certain countries. Note that this is different from Top Performer Payouts.

Q: Are there caps on the amount of rewards a Lens can receive?
A: Currently, no limits apply to the amount of rewards a single Lens can receive within a given time period.

Q: Are there caps on how many Lenses I can submit into Lens+ Payouts?
A: While there is currently not a cap on the number of Lenses you can submit to Lens+ Payouts, there is a limit to the number of Lenses that can be published per day (irrespective of whether they are enrolled into Lens+ Payouts). These limits help ensure a high-quality experience across the platform by supporting review processes and preventing spam or duplicate submissions. It also encourages creators to focus on crafting and iterating on their best ideas.

Q: Can my Lens receive multiple payouts?
A: Yes, Lenses can continue to receive payouts across multiple months with Lens+ Payouts.

Q: Can older Lenses keep receiving payouts, or only new ones?
A: As long as a Lens maintains top engagement from Lens+ subscribers, it can continue to keep receiving payouts.

Q: Why did my payout change compared to last month even though my metrics look similar?
A: Payouts can fluctuate due to changes in engagement, overall program dynamics, or updates to how performance is evaluated. Even if top-line metrics look similar, Lens+ subscriber engagement is what matters.

Q: Why am I seeing engagement on Lens+ Lenses that are higher than my Lens+ audience?
A: Non-Lens+ subscribers can still view your Lens in the carousel but aren’t able to take a Snap or interact with a game. This is why you might see values for views or plays that are higher than your Lens+ audience.

Q: What does subscription count mean?
A: When someone subscribes after interacting with your Lens, we give credit to the Lens that directly led them to subscribe to Lens+. If your Lens is the last step before someone subscribes, it counts for you. Subscription count helps us understand how much your Lens is contributing to Lens+ growth and may be considered alongside other signals when we evaluate performance in the Lens+ Payouts Program.

Metrics and Performance

Q: Where can I find information about how my Lens is doing with respect to monetization?
A: You can find monetization data on My Lenses. You can find a summary on the homepage, within the Lens details page, and within the Insights menu on the Monetization tab.

Q: What’s the importance of other engagement metrics? How can these help me understand how to improve my chances of receiving payouts?
A: Engagement metrics outside of Lens+ subscriber actions provide insight into how people interact with your Lens and can help you identify what’s working. For example, they can signal areas to improve such as how often it’s shared, depth of interaction, or how well your Lens gets distributed based on user signals.

Q: How does the algorithm decide which Lenses to promote?
A: Promotion is influenced by a variety of factors. Lenses that resonate with audiences and drive meaningful interactions (like conversions to subscription or engagement from Lens+ subscribers) are more likely to be surfaced to Snapchatters.

Submission and Review Process

Q: What happens after I submit my Lens for rewards consideration?
A: After submission, your Lens goes through moderation and technical performance review. After it passes this stage it progresses to a 48-hour period where we show it to a non-Lens+ subscriber audience to learn how it performs. This is helpful for you as a Creator because early performance plays an important role in how quickly it grows–think of this period as an early opportunity for your Lens to be discovered. After this it is available and marked as exclusive to all Lens+ subscribers and showcased to non-Lens+ subscribers behind a paywall. Note: No 48-hour distribution period applies to AI Clips Lenses.

Q: At what point do Lens+ Lenses begin tracking metrics?
A: This depends on the metric. As soon as your Lenses are submitted and approved they begin collecting swipes and engagement as reflected in My Lenses. However, they begin collecting Lens subscriber actions (which are used in calculating payout amounts) after the 48-hour period when they receive the exclusive marker.

Q: Can I edit my Lens after submitting it for rewards?
A: Yes, if it was created in Lens Studio. We currently do not support updates for Lenses created in Easy Lens web or mobile. To edit a Lens that has already been submitted for rewards, you need to open an existing Lens project/Lens ID and publish it as an update to the same Lens ID. It will then go back through moderation and validation before the update is active. You must publish the update against the same Lens ID.

Q: What happens if my Lens is removed from Snapchat or deactivated?
A: If your Lens is deleted by yourself or if it is taken down by moderation, it will not be eligible for a payout. If it is rejected or flagged by moderation after initial approval, it will not accrue engagement until it is fixed and resubmitted. Snapchat reserves the right to make final judgement on whether a Lens is eligible for Lens+ payouts.

Q: Why was my Lens changed from Exclusive to free?
A: If your Lens doesn’t reach a certain performance threshold within 30 days of joining Lens+, it becomes free and is no longer eligible for payouts.

This helps ensure that only high-performing Lenses remain Exclusive, while giving other Lenses a chance to reach a broader audience. By becoming free, your Lens can get more plays and engagement—helping you learn what resonates with Snapchatters and improve future Lenses for better performance.

You can use these insights to refine your next Lens and increase your chances of receiving payouts through Lens+.

Payments

Q: How do I know if I have received a payout?
A: You will receive an email and a push notification from within Snapchat. To learn more about Creator Rewards and cashing out, click here.

Q: When and how do I actually get paid?
A: Payments are issued after payouts are finalized and processed. You will receive an individual email regarding the payout status/amount of each Lens submitted to Lens+ payouts. You’ll receive payouts through Hyperwallet.

Q: Is there a minimum payout threshold before I can withdraw my payout?
A: You must have at least $100 in your account to withdraw payouts. This amount is determined by Hyperwallet.

Policies, Appeals, and Changes

Q: Can I appeal a payout decision?
A: No, all payout decisions are final. If you believe there is an error in your payout calculation, please contact lenscreatorrewards@snapchat.com. Do not use this channel for appeals. Please read the FAQ before messaging.

Q: Will the payout model change over time?
A: The program may evolve over time to improve fairness, sustainability, and creator outcomes. Updates to the payout model or eligibility criteria may occur, and changes will be communicated.

Q: How long will Lens+ Payouts continue for?
A: Lens+ Payouts will be ongoing at Snap’s discretion.
